The musings and ramblings of an itinerant Scottish runner

This week

Working backwards... today was the Allan Scally Road Relays in the east end of Glasgow.

Pics here.

We had six men and three women in the event which equated to two official teams (four and three) and two left-overs - Alan Tait and I.

I have to say I found the going hard. I seem to have lost all my short distance speed. It felt like someone was sitting on my chest throughout the entire 4.8 miles of the course, which had a lovely hill at about two miles. Not.

Anyway, my time was about 36.10. I say about because yet again my 305 fucked around so I turned it off and didn't bother with it. I've told Garmin I want my money back because it's the fourth unit and enough's enough.

Even though I was wearing my Nike watch, I couldn't get the timer to work so I'm left with a guessed at time until I see the official times. Not that I really want to anyway but one has to take the thick with the thin I guess.

I had a good run on Thursday night and maybe I took too much out of myself then? Whatever, I'll put it down to experience.

My next target is definitely the Great Winter Run in Edinburgh on January 13. It's a pretty tough 5K but I'm planning to follow a six-week sub-20min training schedule from the beginning of December in an attempt to get my speed back up again.

Not a lot else to say about this week. Work (but we don't talk about that on this blog) and we went to the cinema on Monday night to see The Devil Wears Prada.

Eye candy indeed!

We've got club folks coming round tonight so that should be fun and the monthly guest run in the west end of Glasgow tomorrow morning at 9am.

We'll see how many turn up for it!
