Just back from two better than superb weeks in Florida. It's been brilliant, from start to a very reluctant finish.
Weather, food, accommodation totally fantastic. The running took a bit of a back seat which was no bad thing.
The day before we left (Friday July 14), I spent an hour at Run 4 It and came away with a pair of Mizuno Wave Inspire 2 shoes. While I was in Florida, I ran 29 miles in the first week and 19 in the second. They included two runs of 11 miles and 13 miles respectively. I hesitate to say it but no pain.
I felt the odd discomfort but nothing like the grief I was getting before going away.
I'm going to let the pictures tell their own story: here

Pain pain go away...
The title probably says it all. After an eight-mile run last Sunday afternoon I began to feel the first twinges of what could best be described as discomfort in both legs.
Fucking ironic then that I wrote this on Monday.
There was a familiar pattern after that. I rested on Monday then did one mile easy + three miles fast with three minute recoveries in between then another mile easy. Wednesday was six miles and Thursday five miles.
Today's this week's other rest day and I'm glad of it. Last night was a good run - I really enjoyed it. I was out with other club members and the crack was great. No pain - probably because I'd taken two ibuprofen in the middle of the afternoon.
Four miles tomorrow and back at the physio. Goodness knows what he's going to come up with. I've stuck religiously to the stretching exercise he gave me and I've done everything else I can think of.
The bairnlet rang today from Borneo which pleased me. She's been seeing orang utans, turtles and collecting email addresses from people in Australia, Japan and other countries.

Saturday
Calderglen 5K last night. 20.48 - a hard course, lots of midgies and a general impression that the course wasn't quite 5K. My watch showed 2.6 miles.
My only other 5K was the Great Winter Run in Edinburgh in February where I did 25.34 so there's no way I've taken that much time off a 5K since then.
Beer later. Pissed.
